what does a girl feel?

by Fareedah Agberemi

Osun, Nigeria

a gaping hole pulsing with its fervent need to consume the colours of her person. pain is

allowing herself to hear the words 'i love you' from those who dare love her worthlessness.

rampaging sadness that echoes in screams as her mind battles between two extremes. always

two extremes. and perhaps if she makes herself feel something worse, this one would go away.

fear. fear from the golden bustle sneaking by dust motes through her curtains. it scares her but

she wants the fullness within its carriage.

a girl yearns for absolution and her Lord hears her. make me feel something beyond bereft and

blood drawn. weak limbs and though wudu does not make her feel clean, she is fuller.

this is something she has chosen to remember:

And when my servants ask you, Oh Muhammad, concerning me, tell them that surely, I am

near.
